Coronavirus Israel Live: Cabinet Approves More Restricted Zones as Cases Surge

Israel and the West Bank are dealing with a renewed outbreak. This has led to the closure of a large number of schools throughout the country, and the imposition of new restrictions on specific areas. As the prospect of an Israeli annexation of the West Bank looms, Israel has also brought back the rule demanding that Palestinian workers do not travel back to the West Bank, this time until July 17, under their employer's reponsibility.

Meanwhile, the legislative process to allow Israel's security agency, the Shin Bet, to continue monitoring civilians in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus is progressing, despite criticism from many, including Shin Bet director Nadav Argaman.

■ 22,638 people in Israel have so far tested positive for the coronavirus; 313 people have died. In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, 1,400 people tested positive; two people have died. In the Gaza Strip, 72 people were diagnosed and one person has died.

4:00 P.M. Over 100 new virus cases discovered in West Bank

132 people were diagnosed with the coronavirus in the West Bank, 94 of which are from Hebron, according to figures released by the Palestinian Health Ministry. Of those who currently have the virus, nine are in severe condition and five of those people are on respirators. (Jack Khoury)
